Prasit “Ken” Khachenrum ‘s
extensive career in food and beverage began in his native Thailand
at the renowned
Grand Hyatt Hotel in Bangkok. Ken later joined the staff of
the Commodore Cruise Lines, preparing a variety of cuisines
in the various ship restaurants while sailing the Caribbean
and perfecting his craft. He came to the US in the early 1990’s, settled in the
Washington, DC area, where he worked at several fine eateries.
He was the Sushi Chef for Yosaku Japanese Restaurant there
for several years.
Ken came to the Virginia Peninsula in 2002
and opened Pattaya Thai Cuisine in Yorktown.
In 2006, with nearly 2 decades of food service experience,
he opened the doors of Thaijindesu , Thai and Sushi Bar in
the Port Warwick section of Newport
News and it quickly became a luncheon and dinner favorite.
Even today with the demands of operating a fine restaurant, Ken personally
prepares all the sushi served at Thaijindesu and the pride he demonstrates
in his work is a delight to the eyes, as well as the taste buds.
